Menrva Labs Podcast—Episode 4: Interview With Sylvia Sitters

Courtesy of the San Antonio Express-NewsYou know how, every now and then, you come across a person who just gets it? You can’t explain exactly why, but they just do. When I first met Sylvia Sitters, I immediately sensed she is one of those few people. Sitters is very involved within the community, an accomplished marketing strategist, and practicing intuitive healer.

After building a successful career in advertising, Sitters evaluated what she was doing with her life. Her realizations led to her leaving the field in order to build the successful business Equisol, in which she works with people and animals to promote holistic health and living.

In continuing sharing stories that change lives, I feel honored to showcase Sylvia’s story here on Menrva Labs. She serves as an example of what a person can accomplish when they use their skills and passion to do what they know is right. Sitters risked prosperity, prestige, and security to stand alone in a world that values wealth and status.

Sylvia, thank you for taking the time to sit down with me to share your inspirational story. People like you encourage the rest of us to fulfill our potential. Thank you for having the courage to be you. Thank you for not compromising.

Menrva Labs Podcast—Episode 3: Interview with @marissaRgarcia

There are some people who live to make a difference in the lives of those around them. Marissa Garcia is one of those people. Creator of the 30 on 30 Project and current Americorps Vista, Garcia constantly strives to reach perfection in herself and helps others realize their own potential. With the motto “I create my own good luck,” it’s hard to imagine anything less than someone who is extremely driven and passionate about what they do.

Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Garcia graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is currently serving an Americorps Vista year of service in Seneca Falls, New York, home of the Women’s Rights Movement, where she is helping build sustainability for the United Way. For her 30th birthday, she focused on creating a sustainable solution to hunger while building community. What’s next for this amazing individual? We’ll let her tell her story…

New Name, Same Game: The Michael B. Maine Podcast is Now The Menrva Labs Podcast

I finally found a better name than the Michael B. Maine podcast. Although the goal is the same—to share the stories of inspiring and interesting people—moving forward, the name will be the Menrva Labs podcast. From the beginning, I wanted a better name, something that was bigger than me, something that would supersede me if it became popular. In addition to the name change, I will be introducing a few other features:

  • It will now be available as both a video podcast and audio podcast, so you can choose whether you would like to watch and/or listen
  • I will be launching a completely new website where you can listen, watch, download, and subscribe to the podcast
  • You will be able to comment on the each episode using the Disqus commenting engine rather than having to sign up for the site
  • Videos will be available on both YouTube and Blip.tv…in HD
  • More is on the way, including guest bloggers, columnists, and publications.

I am looking for people to interview. If you are interested or know somebody who has a story from which we can learn, please let me know. My preferred method of contact right now is Twitter. You can find me at @michaelbmaine. If you don’t use Twitter, feel free to send me an email or leave a comment below.

My Podcast Is On iTunes!

Hello all, I know it’s been a little bit since I’ve published any of my typical blog posts. I have a few things I want to write and put up, but I’ve been working on developing two podcasts. One of which will focus on small business, non-profit, and individual marketing. The other is showcasing the stories of inspirational people.

So I’ve been hard at work researching what goes into making a podcast, how long it should be, what content to include, etc. The one about interesting people can actually be found on this site. Just hit the “podcasts” tab in the top menu or click here. The first episode is up and includes an interview with San Antonio artist David Almaguer. I know it’s FAR from perfect, but it was my first attempt. I already have a bunch of points upon which I want to improve, but feel free to leave any feedback you have so it can become something you would really want to listen to.
