It's Finally Time For The West Seattle Cash Mob at Village Green

To all of you planning on coming out to West Seattle to support Village Green…thank you. By sharing our time, experiences, and dollars, we are doing more than infusing a locally owned and operated business with cash. We are making a clear statement that we value our small businesses, our community, and ourselves.
The first time I met Vera, I knew there was something special about her. Before learning about her fight for fair banking practices, her dedication to her communities, and her activism, I knew she was a special type of individual.

This weekend, we join forces. This weekend, we make a difference.

Logistics:
* Pleas arrive at Village Green just before 2:00. This way we can enter the nursery in a group and have a large presence.
* While there, try to speak with at least two (2) people you don’t already know.
* If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 214.609.0151.
* At 4:00, those who wish should head over to the after party at Company Bar.
* Twitter hashtag = #SeaCashMob
* Have fun!

Cool Initiative: Blood Water Mission

We often focus on what we are doing wrong. While it’s good to know what we’re doing wrong, it’s equally, if not more important, to know what we’re doing right. So with that, I’d like to give a shout out to Blood Water Mission for what they are doing right. Their mission is, “empowering communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS & water crises in Africa.” I love that rather than take an ethnocentric approach to “helping” solve issues, they harness the power of collective thought, understanding, and empowerment. Check out their video below to learn more about how they work.

So what makes Blood:Water unique?

The mission of Blood:Water is to empower communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises in Africa, but perhaps you’ve wondered how exactly we accomplish this goal. We hope our new video, “How We Work,” will help you better visualize the strategy and values behind the efforts we employ.

Visit www.bloodwatermission.com/how-we-work to read more about our process in creatively partnering with communities to fight the HIV/AIDS and water crises. We hope you’ll then become a part of the process by taking the next steps to get involved —use your creativity to mobilize your community and share the vision of Blood:Water with your friends and family.

News Taco Published My Article About Immigration

 A while back I wrote an article on immigration titled Wait, Not All Immigrants Are From Mexico? I recently submitted it to the Latino news source News Taco, who decided to feature the article on their front page. In the article I write about the misconception that all illegal immigrants are Mexican, the fact that immigration is vital to our economy and innovation, and some of the current trends being left out of the discussion. If you’d like to read the entire article, check it out here. Thank you News Taco and editor Sara Inés Calderón (@sarachicad), for publishing my work.
