While hiking one Saturday I saw this bird flying alone in the distance. I wish I knew what kind it was. However, it reminded me to not be afraid to fly alone.

One of the things I most enjoy is spending time with people who are actively working within their communities to increase the diversity, inclusion, and opportunities for all. I volunteered a day to cover an event for Y-WE (Young Women Empowered). The day included several opportunities for young women to mentor each other as well as share in mentorship from professionals, artists, and community activists of all ages. It warmed my heart when I got the negatives back and saw these images.
"You haven't been out to Saratoga yet? You need to see it before they close it down for the season," said Pauline. One of the reasons I've been behind on updating this series is because I came out to Troy, NY for a contract with Kaleel Jamison Consulting Group. Although I took a couple of cameras with me, all of my developing equipment and chemicals are back home and finding a lab I trust is like trying to find a good barber. The series might continue to be updated in batches, as I'm waiting to have several rolls to develop before sending them off to Panda Lab in Seattle. Until I decide where I'll be on a more permanent basis, they'll be processing both my black and white and commissioned color film.
It's very rare I take a day off from work. But on the second Friday out here, I was told that I should take the Friday off and go to Saratoga with some of the boss' friends and enjoy something I can't experience anywhere else. I'm glad I did. Not only did I have a great time, but it definitely provided some cool photo opportunities. Thanks for the hospitality and treating me like family Geno!
